Founder & CEO

Odd Skjærseth

Odd Børge Skjærseth founded West Group in 2007 with a goal to improve drilling processes. Having previously founded Offshore & Marine and PTC he saw there was great potential for improvement, especially in the drilling disciplines.

AWARD WINNING TECHNOLOGY
Since 2007, both Skjærseth and the technology patented by West Group, has been nominated and awarded numerous awards in Norway and abroad.
 

Our history

A lot of great things have happened over the last 10 years. Here are some of them: 

2006

Founder and managing director Odd B. Skjærseth founded the company in 2006. He recruited key personell with mixed operational experience and started the task of finding improvement potential in the oil and gas sector.

2012

We start planning the building of the Coninuous Motion Rig in Stavanger.

2013

An award winning year.
  • OTC Spotlight on New Technology Award to West Group and the CMR technology.
  • WeST Drilling Products won the Entrepreneur of The Year Award at Signalkonferansen

2014

OTC Spotlight on New Technology Award to West Group for the SwardPak technology.

2015

The world`s first continuous motion drilling rig is installed for field testing of the CMR technology at IRIS in Stavanger. For the first time in history it is possible to connect drill pipes without stopping the drilling process.

2016

  • West Group enters exclusive cooperative agreement to build and deliver the first onshore Continuous Motion Drilling Rig with Nabors Industries Ltd.
  • We aqcuire Petrolution, a company with considerable experience within development for the well service market. Main focus of the company will be on wireline, coiled tubing, intervention etc. The new name is WeST Petrolution AS. 
  • WeST established WeST Robotics & Digitalisation AS.

2017

  • Vinner av "Spotlight on New Technology" under OTC i Houston.
  • Flyttet til nye lokaler i Maskinveien 9 på Forus utenfor Stavanger
